It works with head units that say "SiriusXM Ready" ONLY. The reviewer who said it only works with Alpine is flat out WRONG. Alpine did have the first head units, but now lots do and unfortunately not everyone knows this yet, even big name stores on the internet which frankly is sad, all I did was google it.I recommend the Sony CDXGT660UP. Amazing head unit at an amazing price. As for this product, it works and it's small. Amazingly small! Yes it activates on the XM network. What I love too is there isn't even a ground wire. I did a lot of reading about the antenna, and the conventional wisdom was that it had to be outside of the car. I really didn't want to drill any holes in the car, so after installing the very compact main unit, I put the antenna on the front of the dash near the windshield. The car has a fairly sloped windshield, so the view of the sky would be decent. I was very surprised to pick up Sirius/XM in my shop. I have two other vehicles with factory radios, a GMC with XM that cuts out in the home's garage (to be fair, that garage is under a level of our home), and a Dodge in the same shop as the Chrysler. The Dodge receives Sirius in the garage with no issues.We've been using this for a few weeks now and there have been no reception problems. She hasn't yet decided on a subscription for it, but for some reason it is picking up satellite stations already.Hard to give a solid rating yet, as we've not used it much. I am witholding at least one star for now, as it wasn't clear that the antenna needs to be mounted on the EXTERIOR of the vehicle. Not exactly something the average consumer will be capable of doing. For now I have the antenna routed up to the top of the dash. |
