I installed this on a 2000 Oldsmodbile Alero and I had no issues. Just made sure that I matched the color connectors and hooked it up with the existing harness and voila, it worked. Also purchased an auxiliary cable to hook up with MP3 player and it worked like a charm. Lots of powers (200W) and could receive AM/FM signals. This unit has no CD player and is replaced by an SD Card which is fine. CD's are almost the thing of the past. All in all, I recommend this Boss 612UA car stereo/mp3 player/am/fm receiver.

Pros: price, both USB & SD(HC), id3 tag display, and sound quality. Cons: crappy docmentasen [sic;], warranty will cost you, and the mp3 read order. I did the research and knew what to expect for the price I was willing to pay. The unit therefore meets my needs; the sound exceeded my expectations. I was pleasantly surprised that it takes 8GB SDHC media. Not so happy that it did not have standard mounting screw holes, in fact no mounting holes; easy to fix. One of my dislikes is that mp3 files are read in the order written to the USB/SD, not in alpha-numeric order. It therefore requires a bit of planning when putting a larger number of folders (albums) on the device (and even more planning for Mac users...hint rsync really helps!). Nice ability to skip forward & backwards by ten songs or by an entire folder (album), and doesn't have a problem with nested folders, but remember it plays files in the order written, not in the order your file system might show them to you! I threw this into my winter beater since it was only five bucks more than what the junkyard wanted for a factory unit. I gotta say, this thing is worth the money as long as it lasts (only had it for a week). The tuner pulls in stations as well as a factory GM unit, and will even fill your presets automatically if you wish! Aux, SD and USB all work great. It took a 8 gig SD with no problem, which I have problems with my other mechless reciever in a different car. The clock is tricky to set, but at least you have one, unlike my other mechless unit. Since the manual is worthless, this is how to set the clock: /// 1)Hold the mode/clk button for about two seconds and clock will appear. 2) Release button and immediately press again for two more seconds; clock will flash, release button. 3) use volume knob to adjust hour. 4) Depress volume button, and minutes will flash, again use the volume to adjust minutes. 5) Clock is now set. //// However, I have not discovered how to... This stereo suprised me, I was kinda worried for the price and everything that came with it that it was too good to be true. After I read some reviews and they were mostly good I took the bait. Well first off the install was as simple as just a standard stereo. By the way this is illegal but if you want video while driving for like kids or passanger, plice the pink parking wire into the black ground wire. This stereo has a back up camera wire and also has steering wheel wiring on the back, I did not expect that. So if you buy this product and see three wires that say key(2) and ground(1) they are for your steering wheel if you have that option. Well after install it powered right up, this stereo has so many features. You can basically hook up anything to it, Sd card, aux, ipod, bluetooth, cd, dvd, tv, gps. I seen someone say something about the quality of the video, as not so great. Well it worried me the whole time, I was just down to the saying, I guess you get what you pay for... Read more

I bought this for my 2003 Toyota Matrix - And I couldn't be happier with the quality for the price of the unit. Especially the for the Bluetooth-phone features. The sound is infinitely adjustable, the display is easy to read, the controls are friendly, once you understand the system. I can play music off of a SD, USB, CD, iPod, AM/FM and via Bluetooth. Not to forget the DVD functions works very well too. The clarity is good once again for the price. DO not expect a Plasma display but nevertheless it is much better than some of the cheap LCD TVs!!! I am super happy!

The Bluetooth's microphone quality is clear and being able to turn up the volume on a phone call is great, especially with increased noise on highway drives. During the initial setup, be SURE to set the phone volume to what you want FIRST, because changing it is more difficult than it should be. My Samsung Galaxy S2 connected easily while the address book transfer was a bit trickier.

- the grip is sturdy and the hooks extend FAR...so I'm pretty sure it'll fit whatever kind of case your phone has on it. it's also padded, so no scratching.
- rotates and swivels in every which direction basically...so you got lots flexibility as to how you wanna face it.
- looks pretty slick and minimal

The only drawback is that it doesn't exactly glue itself to your vent. It's not crazy sturdy - it definitely moves around...especially when you rotate it from portrait to landscape, or take the phone off/on. But it also definitely STAYS ON - doesn't come closing to falling off or even bobble or shake when you drive (the weight of the phone helps). Quite honestly though - not sure if it could be that much better. the car vent is generally a tricky place to attach things to...wasn't designed for something like this obviously. Pros: Secure* grip on iPhone; easy to reposition; compact and out-of-the-way.
Cons: Springs providing grip on iPhone are a little TOO stiff; jaws securing the assembly to vent are too thick...at least for Ford vents.

The install is a fight: the clips that are supposed to secure the assembly to the vent are extremely stiff, and the leverage point for opening them is wrong: my hands are pretty strong, but I still had to use a screwdriver to lever the clips open, and once I got 'em open, I ran into another issue: the 'hooks' at the tip of the clips are significant, and didn't fit past the fins in the vent assembly without some force. Once you get it installed, it'll hold your iPhone effectively, but it's not suited to short trips because the spring-loaded clamp* is extremely stiff and it's sort of a fight to mount or unmount the phone. Even with these little annoyances, this is certainly the best of the vent-mounted platforms for your iPhone.
